Social Distancing

Face-to-face fundraising relies on direct engagement between a fundraiser and a donor. However, with the need for social distancing, traditional methods must be adapted to ensure safety without compromising the donor experience.

To maintain safety:

  • Donors should not touch the same device as the fundraiser.
  • Fundraisers should not be within arm's length of donors.
  • Sensitive information, like bank or credit card details, should not be spoken aloud from a distance.

How Social Distancing Works with Evergiving

Every fundraiser in Evergiving has a unique QR code. This QR code can be displayed nearby and is readable from a distance. The QR code is tied to the fundraiser and can be reused across campaigns, ensuring no data is compromised. It is activated only after the fundraiser completes mandatory fields in front of the donor, preventing misuse.

Here’s the process for capturing donor data safely while maintaining social distance:

  1. The fundraiser first gathers non-sensitive data from the donor, such as preferences or survey responses, which can be shared from a safe distance.
  2. The fundraiser directs the donor to scan their QR code or sends an SMS link to the donor’s phone.
  3. The donor then enters sensitive information, such as payment details, on their own device.

This approach ensures:

  • The fundraiser maintains control over the sign-up process.
  • Sensitive data is securely captured by the donor.
  • Social distancing is respected throughout the interaction.

Steps to Capture Donor Information

1. Every Fundraiser Has a Unique QR Code

Each fundraiser is assigned a secure QR code, available in multiple print formats and sizes for convenience.

2. Choose Between SMS or QR Code

Once the fundraiser completes all required fields in front of the donor, they can hand off the remaining sensitive information via a QR code or SMS.

3. Donor Generates a One-Time Password

The donor scans the QR code or clicks the SMS link, both of which lead to the same secure page.

4. Donor Enters Payment Details

The donor enters the one-time password given by the fundraiser and inputs their payment details on a secure, campaign-branded page.

Managing and Processing the Pledge

Once the donor submits the form, the pledge is processed as it would be under normal circumstances. This includes payment attempts, retries, welcome emails, verification calls, and back-end features like performance management and reporting.

Donors who do not complete the process are saved in Evergiving as leads, and they can be followed up through the Evergiving Call Center.

Additional Fundraising Workflows

Real-Time In-Person Verification Calls

Fundraisers can now complete non-sensitive fields in front of donors, submit the record as a lead, and initiate a call with the donor using Evergiving’s call center directly from their mobile devices. The call is recorded, and the donor securely enters payment information on their phone. This allows the entire sign-up process to be completed while maintaining social distance.

Callbacks for Donor Follow-Up

Fundraisers can focus on initial sign-ups, with callbacks scheduled for later follow-up. The same fundraiser, or a dedicated agent, can call the donor at a pre-arranged time. The donor can then complete their pledge securely via phone.

Two-Step Payment Process

With Evergiving, fundraisers can turn one-time payments into recurring payments. This allows fundraisers to focus on generating leads at a distance, while a separate team follows up to convert those leads into recurring donors.

Training for Social Distancing Protocols

Evergiving includes a built-in learning management system. You can create training modules with videos and quizzes to ensure that all fundraisers understand and follow social distancing protocols. Fundraisers must complete the quiz before starting their work. These modules can be updated quickly to provide the latest safety information.
