Starting a New Campaign¶
This guide answers common questions about timelines, costs, and setup options.
How Long Does Setup Take?¶
To get from "let's go" to your first donor, here’s our typical process:
- Kick-off: We’ll set up a Basecamp project and have a quick meeting to understand all the Campaign's needs.
- Build & Design: Our team builds the form and works with you on the design.
- Review & Test.
For a standard setup, please allow 3 to 4 weeks. This ensures everyone is happy and everything works perfectly for their donors.
What Are The Payment Options?¶
This is a key decision. We have two main ways to handle payments for a Campaign:
Option 1: Manual Processing (No Payment Gateway)¶
- How it works: Donors enter their full credit card details directly into the form. This data is then securely encrypted and exported to the charity to process.
- Best for: Campaigns that already have a manual processing system in place.
- Cost: There is no additional gateway setup fee for this option.
Option 2: Automatic Processing (With Payment Gateway)¶
- How it works: Donors enter their card details, which are instantly processed automatically by a secure payment gateway. This is seamless and instant.
- Best for: Campaigns that want a fully automated, hands-off payment solution.
- Cost: There is a one-time setup fee to connect to the gateway. This helps cover our development costs. After that, we bear the cost of maintaining the connection to that gateway.
What About Costs?¶
A break down of the costs:
- Platform Fee: Covers the use of Evergiving's platform. (Your account manager can provide details on this).
- Payment Gateway Setup (If chosen). It's a one-time fee.
- Gateway Maintenance: We absorb all the ongoing costs of maintaining the gateway connection for you.
Your Next Steps¶
- Chat with the Charity: Discuss the two payment processing options to see which is preferred.
- Let Us Know: We’ll create your Basecamp project and get the kick-off meeting scheduled to start the clock.
- Gather Assets: If you're ready to go, start collecting the logo, banner images, and any specific wording for emails and the form.
