Import leads

Import or Update

This import can be used to either import a new lead or update a record. To update a record simply add the 'Pledge ID', this is the universal ID for any record of any type.

Please read these instructions carefully before importing data.

  1. You can use CSV or XLS/XLSX formats. You might find it easier to use XLS/XLSX. You can use Microsoft Excel but do consider using a different application, it really isn't built for managing tables of data. Unless you're an advanced user and know how to prevent it doing what it's designed to do - it can cause you problems. There's lots of great alternatives out there. Something like this https://www.ronsplace.eu/products/ronseditor is excellent.

  2. Columns can be imported in any order

  3. These columns are mandatory and cannot be empty: Supporter First Name, Supporter Last Name and Supporter Country Code. Any other column is optional. Evergiving will detect the fields you're importing by matching the title of the column.

  4. Supporter Country Code - is ISO 3166 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166 or https://www.iso.org/iso-3166-country-codes.html e.g. 'US', 'GB' or 'AU'

  5. Phone numbers will be validated on import using the Supporter Country Code. Evergiving will detect the national phone format and if you have dropped leading zeroes in your import add them back. Invalid numbers will reject the row.

  6. Dates are all YYYY-MM-DD, as per ISO 8601 https://www.iso.org/iso-8601-date-and-time-format.html

  7. Boolean values are 'Yes'/'No' or 'True'/'False'

  8. Currencies are ISO 4217 https://www.iso.org/iso-4217-currency-codes.html e.g. USD, EUR, GBP

  9. All validated values are case insensitive e.g. you can import TRUE, True or true; USD or usd etc

  10. Timezones are values in the tz database https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tz_database_time_zones e.g. America/Toronto, Europe/London, or Etc/GMT+5

  11. Payment methods allowed are Card (or value contains ‘card’), Direct Debit (or value contains ‘bank’), Wallet, and Other. You can then add anything you like in the payment method type column, e.g. 'PayPal' or Apple Pay for 'Wallet'

  12. If you think you've made a mistake, you can go to https://manage.evergiving.com/leadimports and delete the lead import. Please N.B. as soon as you log in as an agent and make a change to a record in the lead import, i.e. you log a call attempt or save a change to a field, you can no longer delete the lead import. You can then make it 'inactive'.
