Australian Sender ID Requirements

SMS messages Evergiving sends on your behalf use a Sender ID rather than a mobile number. In Australia, Sender IDs are subject to mandatory registration requirements introduced by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

The ACMA SMS Sender ID Register

The ACMA has introduced a mandatory SMS Sender ID Register. From 1 July 2026, your Sender ID must be registered with the ACMA for every supplier who sends SMS on your behalf using that Sender ID — including Evergiving.

From 1 July 2026, any unregistered Sender ID will be replaced with "Unverified" in the recipient's messages. Messages marked as "Unverified" may appear grouped with other unverified messages on the donor's phone, which can reduce trust and deliverability.

For more information, see the ACMA SMS Sender ID Register.

Warning

If your Sender ID is not registered before 1 July 2026, your messages will display as "Unverified" to Australian donors.

Valid Sender ID Format

A valid Australian Sender ID must:

  • Be between 2 and 11 characters

  • Not consist of numbers only

  • Not start or end with a space or underscore

  • Not include the word "Unverified"

  • Not be misleading or offensive

It must also match one of the following use cases, or the ACMA may reject your application:

  • Your registered business name

  • Your ABN company name (the ABN must be active)

  • Your registered trademark

  • Your domain name (you must be the registrant and actively use it)
